Armageddon Week on History Channel »

Dooms Day 2012

If I am not paranoid enough, The History Channel is running an all out Armageddon week special.  I have seen one episode already discussing about the December 20, 2012 prediction.

Also, there are over a million other ways we are supposedly going to be wiped off this planet.

Click here to view all the episodes from The History Channel website.

My humble opinion, we will see December 22, 2012.

Christmas – Military Veterans »

This is a heartfelt message for those who serve in all U.S. Military forces.  - tm

The embers glowed softly, and in their dim light,
I gazed round the room and I cherished the sight.

My wife was asleep, her head on my chest,
My daughter beside me, angelic in rest.

Outside the snow fell, a blanket of white,
Transforming the yard to a winter delight.

  9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
  10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
  11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
  12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
  13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
  14. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
  15. Be gentle with the earth.
  16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
  17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
  18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

Deadliest Catch TV Show – Maddin.net Favorite »

Deadliest Catch The past couple of years I have followed this tv show, “The Deadliest Catch” on the Discover Channel.

Official Website

This show demonostrates how tough nature can be especially at sea in Alaska.  It seems each season gets tougher for each boat crew the tv show follows for a fishing season.

The fishing crews work 18+ hours a day for weeks at a time.  But when it all said and done they have cleared more money in two months than I make in two years.  So getting 8 to 10 months a vacation a year is not to shabby.

3 Minute Mangement Course »

Lesson One:

An eagle was sitting on a tree resting, doing nothing. A small rabbit saw the eagle and asked him, “Can I also sit like you and do nothing?” The eagle answered: “Sure, why not.”

eagle.jpg

So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the eagle and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Management Lesson One:

“To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.”

Lesson Two:

A turkey was chatting with a bull. “I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree,” sighed the turkey, “but I haven’t got the energy.”

turkey.jpg

Well, why don’t you nibble on some of my droppings?” replied the bull. “They’re packed with nutrients.” The turkey pecked at a lump of dung, and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot him out of the tree.

Management Lesson Two:

“Bulls#!t might get you to the top, but it won’t keep you there.”

Lesson Three:

A little bird was flying south for the winter. It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground into a large field. While he was lying there, a cow came by and dropped some dung on him. As the frozen bird lay there in the pile of cow dung, he began to realize how warm he was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He laid there all warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy.

little_bird_2.jpg

A passing cat heard the bird singing and came to investigate. Following the sound, the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung. He promptly dug him out and ate him.

Management Lesson Three:

(a) Not everyone who s#!+s on you is your enemy.
(b) Not everyone who gets you out of
s#!+ is your friend.
(c) And when you’re in deep
s#!+, it’s best to keep your mouth shut!

This ends the Three Minute Management Course.

Dilbert – A true office politics philosopher »

Dilbert

I love the comic series Dilbert.  {Website http://www.dilbert.com for the daily comic.]

I have been reading this comic for years.  The reason I enjoy it because I relate to the ideas expressed in the comic.  Anybody that works in a corporate environment knows the silly things that happen to us each and everyday.

Below are some notable quotes from the comic strip Dilbert.  Enjoy!

"63% of all statistics are made up… including this one."

"Accept that some days you are the pigeon and some days the statue."
